Booking a studio maternity session is a beautiful way to honor this moment in your journey. At JPF Galleries, my goal is to make your session feel calm, thoughtful, and tailored to you. From the moment you step through the studio door, you’ll be supported through every step with intention, warmth, and professionalism.
Here’s exactly what you can expect during your studio maternity session.
A Warm Welcome + Wardrobe Care
When you arrive, I’ll greet you and immediately take care of your wardrobe. I hang and steam your items while you get comfortable. From there, you’ll begin your beauty prep with professional makeup. This is your time to relax, take a breath, and let yourself be pampered.
Hair and Makeup Time: A Moment to Pause
Makeup alone takes about an hour, and if hair styling is added, the full process can take up to 90 minutes. During this time, I’m setting up lighting, prepping the sets, and finalizing the flow of our studio maternity session. I’ll usually play soft music in the background and chat with you about the first look we’ll begin with. If you’d like, you can listen to one of our in-studio playlists like Before the First Frame, curated to make the beginning of your session feel calm and unhurried.
Every decision we make is guided by your comfort and the style we’ve discussed beforehand. While you’re in the chair, I may offer insight on which set we’ll start with based on the flow and what you’ve brought.

Studio Maternity Session Posing: Guided and Supportive
Once makeup is complete, we typically take a short break before starting. Some clients grab a snack, use the restroom, or simply pause to breathe. When you’re ready, I’ll direct you into the first look and guide you through the entire session.
Each look usually takes about 30 minutes. My posing style is gentle and guided. I model movements for you and explain the “why” behind the pose. This helps ease nerves and make everything feel more natural. The energy is light and conversational. We’re often chatting throughout the shoot, with small pauses while I snap frames.

Movement and Flow in Your Studio Maternity Session
We move through each outfit at a steady pace. You’re welcome to take breaks between scenes if you need to, but most moms are excited to see each look come to life. There’s a natural momentum as the session unfolds, and the excitement builds with every new set.
By the end, it’s common for clients to feel both proud and relieved. You’ve done something meaningful for yourself and your baby, and that energy carries through the rest of your day.
Keepsake Video Footage
Throughout your studio maternity session, I’ll also be capturing behind-the-scenes video footage to create a cinematic keepsake from your experience. This short film tells the story of your session in a beautiful and personal way. It’s a client favorite and a timeless addition to your maternity collection.
Tethered Previews During Your Session
During the session, I shoot tethered so that select images appear on-screen in real time. This gives you an exciting preview of your portraits as we create them. It builds confidence and helps you feel even more connected to the process and the moments we’re capturing.
Parting Gift After Your Studio Maternity Session
At the end of your studio maternity session, you’ll receive a small thank-you gift. This could include a mini self-care item, a preview print, or a handwritten note to honor the experience. My hope is that you leave feeling celebrated and cared for.
Refreshments and Local Recommendations
Light refreshments are available throughout your time at the studio. After the session, many clients head out for a well-deserved meal. If you’re in the mood to treat yourself, I’m happy to recommend a few great spots nearby in Fort Worth.
Final Thoughts on Your Studio Maternity Session
Your maternity session is about more than just photos. It’s about feeling seen, supported, and proud of the season you’re in. Every part of the JPF Galleries experience is thoughtfully designed to honor that, from the moment you arrive to the final portrait we create together.
If you’re pregnant and considering a studio maternity session in Fort Worth, I would be honored to create something beautiful with you. You can view upcoming maternity session availability here.
